Marion Riseman

Marion Riseman (1928 - 2010) was active/lived in Connecticut, Florida.  Marion Riseman is known for Sculpture and abstract painting.

Marion S. Riseman studied sculpture with Francis Wadsworth, a Connecticut sculptor and painter.  She also studied oil painting with Alton Tobey of the Yale School of Fine Arts, and attended Washington Irving School of Art where she won a National Award, which was a First Prize in the National Greeting Card Design Contest.  John Paul Riopelle was also a mentor and influence on her artwork.

Riseman began collecting Tiffany glass and lamps after a visit to the Walter Chrysler Museum in 1965.  Her insight into color and design led her to amass a significant collection of Tiffany's work.  Due to her studies on the unique effects of color and tone produced by the Tiffany lamps and vases, she developed an interest in abstract painting, which became her dominant style in the oil media.
